I'm quite sure we weren't the only holidaymakers, on the long journeys home, sometimes to ponder the logistics of upping sticks and becoming permanent residents of Wester-Ross. This little book is meant for them as well as for those with a more general curiosity about life in this seemingly remote corner of north-west Scotland.
Having spent many wonderful holidays walking the hills or fishing the sea-lochs of Wester-Ross we could think of nowhere better, not to 'retire' but for me to write and to paint, now for a living; and for both of us to engage with the production and the all-important marketing of the results. Since coming with our dogs to live in Mellon Charles, which is near the village of Aultbea alongside Loch Ewe, we have been more than content with our decision to relocate. Yes, it's a long way away from our old stamping grounds, but distance is not a problem in these days of easy communications. For us, more importantly, peace and quiet is also easy here in Wester-Ross.
Enjoy this selection of my pictures and the poems - (all the ones shown under the 'Greetings Cards' link) - and the narratives that I hope will go some way towards explaining how each one came to be.
